Explanations of Types of Clinics

Nurse Treatment Clinic
This is for patients having treatment for genital warts in clinic. Patients need to have been seen by a doctor before booking into this clinic.

Asymptomatic Clinic
This is for patients who want a sexual health check up but who do not have symptoms. A full set of tests for sexually transmitted infections can be done in these clinics. This will involve a urine test and a blood test in the majority of patients. Patients who attend this clinic WILL NOT BE EXAMINED, so if you think you have a problem which a doctor actually needs to look at then you should book an appointment in a Doctor Clinic

Health Advisor Clinic
This is for patients who want a sexual health check up but who do not have symptoms (see Asymptomatic Clinic). In addition, these clinics are particularly suited to Patients requiring HIV testing who think they might have been at risk, Patients requiring Hepatitis B vaccination, Patients wishing detailed advice or counselling on sexual health issues, Young people under the age of 16.

Doctor Clinics
Any patient can be seen in a doctor clinic. In particular, if you have symptoms which require an examination then it is advisable to book a doctor appointment.
